When you first open the LightTouch software, you will arrive on the Home Page, where you’ll find four main buttons centered on the screen:
Each of these buttons leads to an essential feature of the application. Let’s go through them one by one, starting with the first.
The Camera Calibration screen is not something you need to interact with directly, but it plays a critical role behind the scenes.
When you click this button, the software communicates with the LightTouch device via Bluetooth. The purpose of this screen is to help the camera mounted on the LightTouch unit recognize your display screen.
Think of this like tuning an instrument: you’re not playing music yet, but this step ensures everything is properly aligned before you begin.
The Learn to use LightTouch menu is a step-by-step tutorial designed to help you get comfortable with how the system works. If you’re ever unsure of what to do, this is the place to start.
This guided experience walks you through the basic gestures and interactions supported by LightTouch. Here are the steps you'll go through:
Start by performing a simple rightward swipe, a smooth hand motion from left to right in front of the camera.
Next, do the same motion but in the opposite direction. Swipe your hand from right to left. These basic gestures are the foundation for navigating within LightTouch.
You will now learn how to control the mouse cursor using just your hand:
Take your time to get used to the sensitivity and accuracy.
In this final step, you'll practice aiming at a target using the same hand-controlled cursor.
This step ensures that you’re ready to use LightTouch effectively.
At the bottom-left of the Home Page, you’ll find the Settings button, a crucial menu for customizing and improving your experience with LightTouch.
Clicking on it will take you to a new screen with several configuration options. From top to bottom, let’s go through each setting and explain how it works.
This option enables the screen reader, providing audio feedback for buttons and interface elements.
You can choose between three different text sizes:
LightTouch respects your system’s theme preference by default. However, you can override this by manually toggling the Dark Theme:
This allows for better visibility depending on lighting conditions.
This mode is designed to turn LightTouch into a presentation tool, ideal for software like PowerPoint.
You can customize these gestures anytime (see the Key Bindings section for more details).
Opposite to Presentation Mode, Navigation Mode enables full interaction:
This is the default mode for general usage.
LightTouch supports two interface languages: English and French.
Choose the language you're most comfortable with for the best experience.
This setting lets you select your dominant hand for using LightTouch:
LightTouch focuses on one hand at a time to avoid confusion and accidental inputs. This helps prevent cursor jumps when your non-dominant hand is detected.
Located at the bottom-right of the Home Page, the Key Bindings menu allows you to customize the keyboard keys triggered by gestures when using Presentation Mode.
By default, the swipe gestures are mapped as follows:
However, you can assign any key you prefer to each gesture. This gives you full control over how LightTouch interacts with your system during presentations.
This feature is especially useful if you have specific preferences or accessibility needs during presentations.
